NOTICE CONCERNING THE PROCESS FOR APPROVAL OF LICENSES

 At its November 6, 2002 meeting, the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology approved a process that should shorten the time between the filing of a completed application and the approval of the applicant for licensure.  The Board’s decision will allow applicants to be licensed each month, whether or not the Board holds a meeting. 

Effective immediately, the Board’s process for approval of licensure is as follows: 

1.      The Executive Director will review applications on the first and fifteenth of each month.  (NOTE: The review will occur on the next business day if the first or fifteenth is a day the office is closed.)

2.      To be considered for review an application must be complete at least 5 business days prior to the review date.

3.      The Executive Director may approve the applicant for licensure when the application clearly establishes that all licensure requirements are met.

4.      An application that does not clearly establish that the applicant meets the licensure requirements shall be presented to the Board for consideration and approval.

5.      All aide applications and requests for waiver of requirements to supervise either an aide or a conditional licensee during the supervised professional experience shall be presented to the Board for consideration and approval.

6.      At each Board meeting the members shall be presented with a listing of all applicants who were approved for licensure during the preceding month and shall vote to ratify the issuance of those licenses.
