ADVOCACY

OSLHA, in conjunction with the Ohio Speech and Hearing Governmental
Affairs Coalition (OSHGAC), employs a lobbyist to ensure that Ohio
legislators understand our position on the issues that affect our future,
such as:
- Salary Supplements
- Personnel Shortages
- Caseload Sizes
- Medicare, Medicaid and Private health insurance reimbursement
- Licensure Laws
- Universal Hearing Screenings
- School Voucher Programs
PUBLICATIONS:
LEARN BEST PRACTICES AND STAY ABREAST OF HOT TOPICS
OSLHA Members receive the newsletter, Communication Matters, which
highlights what your colleagues are doing throughout the state and even the
nation. You also receive the award-winning, HEARSAY journal,
which offers in-depth articles about a variety of diagnoses and treatment
programs for the clients we serve.
OSLHA
publishes HEARSAY
annually. OSLHA also publishes 7 issues of
Communication
Matters per fiscal year with
circulation of over 2,800..
LIABILITY INSURANCE:
OSLHA provides members with the
opportunity to purchase Liability Insurance providing $1,000,000/$3,000,000 coverage. Please contact the OSLHA

REPRESENTATION:
OSLHA members have representation. Your
Professional
Practice Representative
is elected to represent
you in your area of practice (Audiology,
Health Care, MRDD,
Non-Profit Agencies, Private Practice, Schools, Supervision, University and
Student Affairs)
acting as a liaison between speech-language pathologists and/or audiologists
and the OSLHA Legislative Council.
RECEIVE DISCOUNT CONVENTION REGISTRATION AND
EARN CEUs:
Our annual convention provides a wide
range of courses for continuing education purposes of renewing licensure and
educational certification, providing
American Speech-Language Pathology &
Audiology Association (ASHA),
American Academy of Audiology (AAA)
and Professional
Development Contact Hours (PDCH)
CEUs. (OSLHA provides certificate of attendance for PDCH CEUs).
OSLHA members receive reduced convention registration fees, as
well as reduced registration fee for annual conventions of neighboring
states. OSLHA has reciprocal agreements with Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and
Pennsylvania state associations. OSLHA also provides joint support for
continuing education with affiliate organizations.

OSLHA recognizes and celebrates the
best and the brightest in our profession through giving of Honors, Fellow,
Outstanding Graduate and Undergraduate Students, and Appreciation Awards.
