Welcome OSLHA Members
in the Non-Profit Worksetting!

Lyna Smith, M.A.
Non-Profit Agencies
Professional Practice Representative

OSLHA has added a representative to the Legislative Council to represent their members from the "Non-profit" sector.  I am pleased to be your representative.  I have spent my 30 year career working for non-profit agencies (Circleville, Delaware and Columbus Speech & Hearing Centers) or government entities such as The Ohio State University.  For the last 14 years, I have directed the Speech and OT services at the Columbus Speech & Hearing Center, which is a not-for-profit.  While most of the issues faced by speech pathologists is the same regardless of their setting (high caseloads, lack of time for documentation, and of course salaries), not-for-profits have their individual challenges and rewards.

As your liaison, I will share information with OSLHA Legislative Council and try to provide information to you when and where I can.  We can also share information and discuss issues at the OSLHA convention in March.  It is Fall and OSLHA is calling for papers and topics.  We will be having a "Non-profit" Caucus at the convention so I am soliciting topics of interest.  Best way to reach me with questions, issues, topics or thoughts is lsmith@columbusspeech.org.
