Connections Corner – Palliative Dysphagia & Ethical Considerations

    CONNECTIONS CORNER is an OSLHA initiative to link and engage licensed professionals to important topics, trending ideas, and open discussions that will appeal to all who attend.

    Our August Event will be co-hosted by guest presenter, Mechelle Motsinger.  Mechelle is a CCC-SLP who earned her Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Science from The Ohio State University and her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Ohio University. She has worked as an acute care speech-pathologist for 3 years and currently works full-time at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She currently serves as the leader of the speech-language pathology patient education committee at Riverside, writing and editing patient educational handouts for use in the inpatient setting. She is also a speech-language pathology representative for the system oncology team and a member of the blood and marrow transplant team.  Mechelle was a recipient of the 2021 ASHA Distinguished Early Career Professional Certificate and she will be presenting an in-person seminar at the 2022 ASHA Convention. She serves as a clinical instructor for graduate clinicians and is a guest lecturer for the speech-language pathology program at the Ohio State University. Mechelle acts as a dysphagia consultant to the palliative care and hospice care service at Riverside Methodist Hospital and Kobacker House.

    The event is Free for OSLHA members and nonmembers but seating is limited and registration is required.
