This course is designed to provide education on how to develop maximally supportive clinical learning experiences for young student practitioners within higher education settings. The course will address:
1. Learning theories across pedagogy, choragogy and andragogy;
2. Universal Design for Learning and solutions-focused problem solving;
3. Embedding learning theory and UDL into Anderson’s model of supervision; and
4. Instruction on the use of the Maximally Supportive Clinical Learning Experiences (MSCLE) clinical education model.
Learner Outcomes: By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss theories of learning across pedagogy, choragogy and andragogy.
2. Explain Universal Design for Learning and Solutions-focused problem solving.
3. Utilize: Maximally Supportive Clinical Learning Experiences (MSCLE); the Tepper-Vaughn Practitioner Skills Assessment (TV-PSA); and the Clinical Practitioner’s Resource Enrichment Plan (CPREP).
Target audience: This course is intended for professionals serving as clinical educators within higher education settings.
