This session will provide you with unique and proven behavioral methods that work with even our most challenging students. The oft’ cited definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result each time. Traditional classroom management strategies are generally successful for “typical kids”. However, when a child struggles daily with schoolwork due to learning or emotional problems, these tried-and-true strategies often fail. We will explore these techniques (punishment, reward systems, competition, demerits, etc.) and explain why they are, largely, unsuccessful with the struggling child. Alternative field-tested approaches will be discussed and demonstrated. By adding these strategies to the teacher’s “bag of tricks,” he or she will be more successful in managing the child’s behavior and motivation. It should be noted that these alternative strategies are also effective with the “typical child” whenever he or she is having a “bad day”.
Now, more than ever, Rick’s words of wisdom will be a welcome source of guidance and hope during, and beyond, these uncertain times. If what you’ve been doing hasn’t been yielding the kinds of results you want, sign up and grab your opportunity to watch Rick speak and ask him your questions.
